As a scientist, LeeAnn's resounding wish is to help future cancer patients. Limited research has been focused on gastric cancer specifically - we still have a poor understanding of its aggressive nature, and high resistance to immuno or chemotherapies.
We ask that you make any memorial gifts in her honor to support gastric cancer research. Under gift designation, please select "Other- please specify" and be sure to indicate "gastric cancer research" - this way it will be directed to this cause. If you'd like her family to be notified, you can list the following contact info: leeannleshko@gmail.com
LeeAnn's son, Nico, rescued the newest member of our family - Levi has brought so much love and light into our life since 2022. When you give, you provide improved medical care and quality of life to the animals in our care, and you help keep loved pets with their families and out of the shelter.
One way to keep her light alive is to donate to this shelter, BARCS, or your own local shelter. LeeAnn's dogs and grand fur-babies were (almost) as special to her as her children.
LeeAnn's passion for science and research lives on through her contribution. While she wished she could have helped advance scientific understanding of gastric cancer during her lifetime, she will make a profound impact in the end: she donated her tumors (and tissues/organs impacted) to cancer research programs throughout the University and elsewhere.
To donate directly to this specific work, please click here and select the 'Research Autopsy Program Fund' from the dropdown menu. Please specify any donation made as in memory of LeeAnn so that our family is notified via contact info: leeannleshko@gmail.com
It’s never too late to share your sentiments with LeeAnn - reading your countless messages, letters, and notes brought her so much comfort and gave her the strength to fight throughout her entire journey.
We don’t want to stop reminding ourselves of how much she is loved, and how many lives she has touched. Her love for others and life will always live on. Her vast community of friends from so many various phases of life is truly mind blowing. The support we have received and continue to is the greatest testament to LeeAnn as a person. We could never thank you all enough.
If you would like to share a memory or tribute her family, we would love to hear from you. Any expression of love is greatly appreciated, but please do not feel that you have to say anything - just knowing that you care and are present with us as we collectively grieve is more than we could ever ask for.
It is impossible for us to ever extinguish our grief without surrendering our love for her. Please send any messages to leeannleshko@gmail.com, or 6225 Belmont Circle, Mount Airy MD 21771 USA
